2024 Annual Lecture
with David Short (ACNA)
Wednesday 13 November, 7.30pm

How far is too far? In 2002, David Short, J.I. Packer, and representatives of 8 other churches walked out of the Synod of the Diocese of New Westminster, of the Anglican Church of Canada. This decision cost David his church building, his home, and his health. Since then he has helped form the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC): a network of over 75 churches and now a diocese of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).

"And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also"

2 Timothy 2:2

"I knew and enjoyed rich fellowship with that good & faithful servant of God, Clive West. This Lecture and Trust would be close to his heart for he rightly believed that sound Biblical training for ministry was crucial for the health & well-being of the Church. This comes with prayerful best wishes for success in your noble endeavour."

Bishop Wallace Benn

"One of Clive’s greatest strengths was his discipling of others. Like the Lord he loved, he invested his life in training and encouraging others, not least younger leaders. This Fund is a wonderful testimony to his Gospel shaped heart, life and ministry."

Bishop Ken 'Fanta' Clarke

"Clive’s passion and calling was to fulfil the ministry of pastor teacher. He was a man of God who ‘rightly handled the word of truth’. He studied it, defended it, taught it and modelled it in his own life. Clive would never have pointed to himself but he would be delighted with a trust fund and annual lecture to enable and equip others to serve the Lord, to be rooted and grounded in Him, and to bring the gospel to all people (especially, through and within the Church of Ireland)."

Mrs Margaret West

"Clive West had a profound influence on many younger evangelical clergy in the Church of Ireland. He encouraged them to be biblically grounded, theologically aware and faithful to the Gospel. His influence lives on."

Bishop Harold Miller

"I honour the name of Clive West, who was a staunch church leader and the warmest of friends. I endorse with all my heart his desire, which was obvious to all, to support those looking for excellence in theological training, as well as his acute sense of training which equips ministers for effective expository Bible teaching."
